Welcome to Rendezvous Bay Hotel, where you can indulge in an authentic Anguillian experience. As Anguilla’s first beach resort, our story dates back to 1958 when Jeremiah and Lydia Gumbs purchased the historic 29-acre site once used by the Arawaks. Discover Our Story. We invite you to discover our story and immerse yourself in the rich history and natural beauty of our beautiful island. This sacred ground, where the Arawaks prepared for their island voyages, became the birthplace of our hotel.
Through centuries, the allure of the unspoiled two and a half mile coastline beckoned Lydia and Jeremiah Gumbs, just as it had drawn their Arawak predecessors. With unwavering determination, they materialized their dream, starting with five single rooms perched on the rocky edge of the property. These rooms, constructed with the island’s first stone crusher and cement mixer, were a testament to their visionary spirit.
In those early days, the roads were wild and electricity was yet to illuminate the nights. Yet, amidst the challenges, chickens, fresh vegetables, and fruits thrived on the land, complementing the bountiful catches from the sea. In 1962, Rendezvous Bay Hotel opened its doors, offering warmth and hospitality to intrepid travelers. Our humble beginnings set the stage for the exceptional service and genuine care that still define us today.
As time passed, our hotel grew, adding more rooms and expanding its embrace. A total of 44 vibrant rooms now cater to families, business travelers, celebrities, and all those seeking an extraordinary escape. In 2007, plans for expansion were conceived, but fate had a different path in mind. The hotel temporarily closed its doors, only to be reborn in 2014, as Alan and Lisa Gumbs embarked on a transformative renovation of our beachfront villas.
Nestled in a truly unique location, Rendezvous Bay Hotel offers more than a beachside retreat. It gifts you with the opportunity to witness the dance of waves from the comfort of your room—a signature experience that sets us apart.
